Information for Disabled Visitors

GMES has been improving facilities for disabled members and visitors. In particular we have incorporated several features into our recently built clubhouse extension, including a toilet accessible to wheelchair users (which also contains a no-step shower) and an entrance to the building via a ramp.

Disabled visitors to our Rally should ask at the entrance for a leaflet showing how to access the areas of the site which are surrounded by railway tracks.

Wheelchair users, and others, who need to cross at the level crossing should use the telephones provided to contact the signalman who will arrange to stop the trains and raise the barriers. For any other assistance, including providing access through the raised track into the top field, speak to a club member who may be identified by a maroon polo shirt with the GMES logo and/or a yellow name badge.

Most of the GMES site is fairly level but access to some areas is across grass. After a period of heavy rain the ground can become soft which may make getting about the site difficult for wheelchair users. This can be a particular problem at our Rally due to the number of visitors and the scattered arrangement of the attractions.

Please note that we may not be able to help directly with lifting or pushing a wheelchair so please come with someone who can do this if necessary. Note also that we do not have wheelchairs available for visitors.

At the rally, we try to reserve a few parking spaces on the right hand side of Burchatts Farm road adjacent to the clubhouse for disabled visitors.
